Why?
I think its got to get worse before getting better or before we really make an attempt at making things better - something catastrophic needs to happen before serious changes are made ie. air is barely breathable or access to clean water is a thing of the past.
What has been the most significant event in their life over the past 10 years?
A significant event was learning how to use less and get more out of it or even learning how to use other means to effectively get the same outcome but at a much lesser cost to the environemnt. So learning the above and putting into use. Unlearning, relearning and implementing!
What is most different for the character in 2020 compared the way they lived in 2010?
Barriers to achieving a 1 planet living are relatively easier as compared to 10 years ago duie to government having made it relatively easier for those that want to move towards a lower carbon living to do so. The most significant difference is to move towards consuming foods grown locally, at home, in a neighbors backyard, in plots of land that have been reallocated for growing foods. So I would say that 80% of food consumed has had some input (from a labor, land, money etc) from those consuming it.
What has remained the same?
Thirst for innovation, going back to how things were done in older times but with a modern twist.
What is their lifestyle now?
Lifestyle is the same - family and community is the fabric that keeps all warm (this community does extend to neighbors across the street to across the world).

Living in the same area and continuing to find ways to live without having to c
With whom are they living?
Living with family as before - couple more children have blessed our lives.

Same as before - inventor, entrepreneur, consultant for Arup.

Bicycle.
How does your character get around in general?
Bicycle. Air ballon that is completely black with solar power pannels on it.

yes.....now we also travel to the Bahamas with air balloon.

Fruits shake with sprouts with vegetables and chickens or goats that have been raised on a hill that is about 5 km away.
What is something they have never eaten but would like to try?
Food made for space travellers

Aside from the other 20% of foods that arive from places futher away that is purchased at the local market, we purchase medicines.
What was their most expensive purchase?
Medicine.

solar cells which use to purify water, heat/cool etc. More efficient and cheaper.

Face to face but of course internet for connections to those at further reaches.

Growing fruits and vegetables, fishing, swimming, ballooning.

Storing energy from lighting and being able to use it.

Paper is owned by corporations who love oil - we dont really read the local paper but the headline for the local community paper says "Plentiful harvest to be shared"
In a paragraph describe a typical day in the life for your character from the moment they wake up until they go to bed.
Wake up kiss my wife, make breakfast and send the kids to homeschool with others in community. During the morning tend to some gardening and livestock, and after lunch consulting for Aup (3-4hours) and then on the internet discussing and working on iventions. Sometimes do some freelance work for others.
